The highly anticipated Ibom Blockchain Summit (IBS) 2025 kickstarted today, Wednesday, with an exclusive mixer at Café One, Uyo.
The private gathering brought together key industry players, event collaborators, partners, and government officials to foster discussions on the future of blockchain and crypto adoption in Akwa Ibom State.
The event set the tone for the main summit, scheduled to take place on March 20-21 at Ibom Hall. Designed to encourage networking and strategic partnerships, the mixer provided an avenue for stakeholders to explore new opportunities aimed at expanding the blockchain and crypto ecosystem in the state.
In his address to attendees, Orok Godspower, the Visioner of IBS and Nigeria Manager for one of the world’s leading crypto exchanges CoinEx, emphasized the summit’s core mission—to drive blockchain and crypto adoption in Akwa Ibom and position the state as a leading hub for blockchain innovation in Nigeria and Africa.
“Our goal is to bridge the knowledge and infrastructure gap in blockchain technology within Akwa Ibom. This summit is a call to action for industry players, enthusiasts, and policymakers to collaborate in building sustainable blockchain-based and crypto solutions,” he stated.
Mr. Godspower acknowledged the immense potential for blockchain innovations in the region but pointed out that there remains a significant gap in development and adoption.
He urged blockchain professionals and developers to focus on building real-world solutions that can drive economic growth and financial inclusion in the state.
He also highlighted several homegrown Web3 projects and brands, including Nitadel, Chaindustry, WomeninDeFi Akwa Ibom Chapter and Adom Labs, as examples of Nigeria-based innovations pushing the boundaries of Web3.
Addressing newcomers to the crypto space, he encouraged them to prioritize education and skill development while exploring opportunities like crypto airdrops.
He stressed that while airdrops can serve as an entry point, a deeper understanding of blockchain technology and decentralized finance (DeFi) is crucial for long-term success in the industry.
IBS 2025 will continue with its main sessions at Ibom Hall, where industry experts, investors, developers, and policymakers will discuss blockchain adoption, regulatory frameworks, and the future of digital finance in Nigeria.
With growing interest in blockchain technology and increasing participation from stakeholders, the summit is expected to serve as a catalyst for innovation, investment, and policy discussions in Akwa Ibom’s emerging crypto ecosystem.
